COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Santa Barbara Tops Titans in Soccer

Ralph Robertson’s free kick from 25 yards in the 61st minute was the winning goal in UC Santa Barbara’s 3-2 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s soccer game Friday at Santa Barbara.
The Gauchos scored two second-half goals, overcoming a 2-1 halftime deficit. Alfred Partida and Brad Wilson scored goals for the Titans (6-4-1, 1-1 in conference). Eddie Soto had two assists.
In California Coastal Conference men’s soccer:
Pacific Christian 5, Simpson College 1--Ryan Bean had two goals to lead host Pacific Christian (8-2-1). Pacific Christian scored four consecutive goals in the second half, breaking a 1-1 halftime deadlock.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
Concordia 1, UC Santa Cruz 0--Jeff Pearson scored the lone goal and Bonner Rinn had two saves for host Concordia (4-4-1).
In nonconference women’s soccer:
San Diego State 3, UC Irvine 2 (OT)--Tracie Ann Manz scored the final goal in the game for UCI but it was too late as time ran out for the Anteaters. Kim Franzgn scored the Anteater’s first goal of the game in a penalty kick in the first half.
