STUDIO CITY : Worker Dies in Fall From Roof of Home

A construction worker apparently fell to his death Friday morning while repairing the chimney of a Studio City home, authorities said.
John Cisneros, 24, of Los Angeles had suffered what appeared to be severe neck injuries when he was discovered in the yard of a home in the 3700 block of Vantage Avenue, fire officials said. Police were investigating the death as an accident.
A neighbor spotted Cisneros’ body about 9:30 a.m. and dialed paramedics, said Detective Mark Aragon of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Aragon said Cisneros was employed by an independent contractor and appeared to have been working alone when he fell. He had apparently been clearing debris from the roof of the house, which was having its chimney repaired.
An autopsy has tentatively been scheduled for today.
Rick Rice, a spokesman for Cal/OSHA, the state’s industrial-safety agency, said his agency plans to investigate the death to determine how it occurred and whether state laws or regulations were violated.
