LA PALMA : Take Fire Prevention Steps, Council Urges
- Share via
The City Council has urged residents to check smoke detectors in their homes to make sure batteries are good and the warning devices are still operating.
The council’s action came as part of a resolution it adopted unanimously Tuesday designating Oct. 9 to 15 as Fire Prevention Week.
Mayor Wally D. Linn said this year’s National Fire Prevention Week theme is “Test Your Detector For Life!” and it emphasizes “the lifesaving potential of having working smoke detectors” in the home.
As part of Fire Prevention Week, the Orange County Fire Department on Oct. 15 will have open houses at its fire stations.
Linn urged all La Palma residents “to visit their nearest Orange County Fire Station on Saturday to become better acquainted with their firefighters.”
