BREA : Council to Budget for Infrastructure

Approval of a $36.6-million capital improvement budget for the 1994-95 fiscal year will be considered when the City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The city has tentatively set aside $15 million for water improvements, $10 million for street improvements, $8.5 million for facility improvements, $733,000 for sewer projects, $325,000 for parks, $50,000 for traffic signals and $2 million for miscellaneous items.
Budgeted amounts for major projects scheduled during the fiscal year that started July 1 include:
* More than $7.9 million for a Community Center complex, which would be built at the northwest corner of Randolph Avenue and Madison Way.
* $6.2 million to make infrastructure improvements as part of the downtown redevelopment project.
* More than $1.4 million to expand the intersection at State College and Imperial Highway.
* $330,000 for bikeway striping throughout the city.
Revenue sources for these capital improvement projects would include $15.2 million from the Brea Redevelopment Agency, $15 million from the water fund, $5 million from miscellaneous city funds and $1.5 million from grant funds.
During the past fiscal year, the city spent more than $12.3 million on capital improvement projects.
