Santa Margarita 16, Woodbridge 47--Katie Nuanes won in 18:41 for Santa Margarita (1-1).
In the Freeway League:
Troy 22, Sunny Hills 33--Elizabeth Sinclair won in 20:09 for Troy (3-0, 1-0).
In the Golden West League:
Saddleback 17, Westminster 42--Gaby Martinez won in 19:10 for Saddleback (2-1).
In the Orange League:
Brea-Olinda 15, Western 50--Senior Mariko Tokoyoda ran a personal best, finishing first in 20:02 for Brea-Olinda (5-1, 1-0). Teammate Michell Richman finished second, in a personal best 20:31.
In the Pacific Coast League:
University 26, Estancia 31--Misha Wilson finished first in 18:35 to lead host University (1-0). Tanya Perkins finished second in 20:03 for Estancia.
In the South Coast League:
Trabuco Hills 20, San Clemente 42--Nancy Dollar broke the San Clemente course record of 19:17, finishing first in 18:55 for San Clemente (0-1).
In the Sunset League:
Esperanza 24, Marina 34--Marina freshman Heather Cuthbertson won in 19:47, but Esperanza (3-0) had three of the first five finishers.
In Century League boys’ cross-country:
Villa Park 16, Foothill 47--Jeremy Mordock finished first in 16:34 for 3.1 miles at Irvine Regional Park for Villa Park (2-1).
In the Orange League:
Brea-Olinda 15, Western 45--Pat Costello finished first in 16:45 as Brea (4-2, 1-0) swept the first five places.
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 27, Newport Harbor 28--The Sea Kings upset No. 3 Newport Harbor (1-1) at Corona del Mar. Shahram DeZahd finished first for the Sailors in 15:44. Brian Slingsby took second in 16:02 for Corona del Mar (1-1).
Woodbridge 25, Santa Margarita 30--Woodbridge’s Ross Venook trailed Mike Murray of Santa Margarita for most of the three-mile race. Venook moved into the lead in the last 400 meters and won in 15:31. Steve Sherman finished third for Woodbridge (2-0) in 15:47.
In the South Coast League:
San Clemente 17, Trabuco Hills 46--Curtis Douglas finished first in 16:32 to lead San Clemente (1-0). Matt Fischer took second in 16:38 and Fernando Ayala finished third in 16:45 for the Tritons.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 27, Huntington Beach 32--Edison junior Kent Roberts took first on the three-mile course at Sunset Park, running a personal-best 14:53, almost a minute better than his previous best. Huntington Beach’s Tony Trueba was second in 15:19. Edison is 3-0. Huntington Beach drops to 1-2.
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Newport Harbor 3, Calvary Chapel 0--Misty May had 16 kills for top-ranked Newport Harbor (4-0), which easily beat seventh-ranked Calvary Chapel, 15-4, 15-7, 15-6. Cortney Owens had eight kills for Calvary Chapel (1-1).
Laguna Beach 3, San Clemente 2--Michelle Christ had 20 kills for second-ranked Laguna Beach (7-2), which won, 15-13, 10-15, 11-15, 15-1, 15-13. Wendy Wilkins and Mary Luhrs each had 25 kills for visiting San Clemente (3-3).
Edison 3, Santa Margarita 0--Erin McCown and Kari Hogancamp each had nine kills for host Edison, which won, 16-14, 15-11, 15-0. Third-ranked Edison is 6-0; Santa Margarita is 3-3.
Huntington Beach 3, Dana Hills 1--Mellissa Wendt had 27 kills to lead fourth-ranked Huntington Beach (4-1) to a 2-15, 16-14, 16-14, 19-17 victory.
