Baby Bell Hires Microsoft, Lockheed for Two-Way TV: Southwestern Bell Corp. said Microsoft Corp. and Lockheed Corp. will help with an experiment in two-way television. The three companies hope to start offering two-way services, such as movies-on-demand, to about 2,500 homes in the Dallas suburb of Richardson late next year. For the experiment in Richardson, Southwestern Bell must win a challenge to a law prohibiting a company from offering video services in the same area it does local telephone service. Three other regional phone companies have already won such rulings. The trial must also win Federal Communications Commission approval.
