Evansville Slew pulled away in the stretch for a 1 3/4-length victory in the $200,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity at Arlington International Racecourse on Sunday.
Favored Mr Purple, winner of the Hollywood Juvenile Championship, hit the side of the starting gate and never fully recovered. He finished third.

Odds-on favorite Diplomatic Jet, ridden by Jerry Bailey, scored a 12-length victory in the $75,000-added Pilgrim Stakes for 2-year-olds on turf at Belmont Park.
In the filly division, Upper Noosh scored a five-length victory, upsetting Another Legend.
