VENTURA — Ivan McCrae and John Patton combined for 136 yards rushing to propel Ventura College to its third consecutive victory in a 31-0 rout of L.A. Southwest College on Saturday night at Ventura High.
The shutout was the second in three games for Ventura this season and improved the resurgent Pirates to 2-0 in Western State Conference play. The victory marked the first time since 1990 that Ventura has won three games in a row. The Pirates were 0-10 last season.
McCrae (81 yards and a touchdown in 13 carries) and Patton (55 yards in seven carries) sparked a balanced offense guided by quarterback Aaron Triana (seven of 13 for 122 yards and one touchdown.) Triana threw one interception.
