Disney’s Virginia Project Gets OK: Walt Disney Co.’s controversial, proposed $650-million theme park in rural Virginia cleared two important hurdles. The Prince William County Planning Commission approved rezoning plans for “Disney’s America” with a historical theme near Haymarket, Va., a region rich with Civil War battlefields. And a regional transportation commission approved road projects worth about $130 million. The Disney project must also get approval from federal highway officials and the county board of supervisors. It is opposed by many environmental groups and historians. Approval came after lengthy debate and expressions of concern that the project would create more congestion and unhealthy air quality.
