Foothill’s Vaughan Cleared to Play Football
Ruben Vaughan has been cleared to play football this week for Foothill, Coach Tom Meiss said Wednesday.
Vaughan, a 15-year-old freshman, was set to attend Santa Margarita but was severely beaten during an attack in Portola Hills in August. The incident, which his stepfather Melvin Aaron alleges was racially motivated, led the family to enroll Vaughan at Foothill.
Vaughan suffered a broken jaw, nose and several stab wounds, but he practiced in full pads with the Foothill team Monday. He is expected to play in the Knights’ game Friday against Woodbridge.
