Your article on Prince Edward Island (“Green Gables and Lobster Dinners,” Aug. 14) presented a wealth of information. However, I was disappointed to see no mention of the several large fiddle festivals that take place there each summer. The two largest are the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival in Northeast Kings County and the Atlantic Jamboree in Southern Prince County. The Rollo Bay festival is largely a Scottish event, including artists from Cape Breton, and the Jamboree is mostly an Acadian event, including artists from New Brunswick. Each draws several thousand enthusiasts on an island of less than 150,000. A number of smaller festivals and local events provide many opportunities for visitors to enjoy the energetic music of traditional cultures.
