How the Dollar Has Fared

The U.S. dollar has fallen roughly a third in value against the Japanese yen since 1989 and about 12% against the German mark since 1988. Yet, the greenback has also held fairly steady against the British pound in recent years and appreciated 19% against the Canadian dollar. The dollar in these currencies:
Japanese Yen: Friday: 99.95
German Marks: Friday: 1.583
British Pounds: Friday: 0.6481
Canadian Dollars: Friday: 1.387
