SYLMAR : Freeway Retrofitting to Be Done This Fall
A retrofitting job on bridges over the Golden State Freeway will be completed this fall, according to CalTrans officials. Repair work recently began on the West Sylmar overcrossing and the Sierra Highway bridge to strengthen the roadways for future natural disasters.
Work includes replacing bearings, reconstructing metal guard railings and repairing concrete. Funding for these improvements is estimated at $1.1 million.
