CALABASAS : City Gets New Aid for Quake Repairs
The city of Calabasas will receive $1.34 million from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to help pay for the damages caused by the Northridge earthquake on Jan. 17.
The bulk of the aid, $1.09 million, has been set aside for grants or loans to repair both single- and multiple-family homes. The maximum amount allotted for each unit is $35,000. This funding is intended to be a last resort, and will be available only after all other funding sources have been exhausted.
The money is provided through a $7-million Community Development Block Grant. The funds are distributed by the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission. So far, the commission has distributed $24.7 million in earthquake-related funds.
