Working at Home: It might not sound like much, but the Home Office and Business Opportunities Assn. in Irvine is elated with its first state legislative victory--getting a measure passed in the Senate that declares Sept. 19-23 Home-Based Business Week in California.
The association hopes to use the week to build awareness of its members’ special needs, says Debra Schacher, chairwoman of the 3-year-old group. She says there’s nothing to help home-based businesses with such problems as taxation, access to capital and insurance, to name a few.
“This is a very big deal for us,” Schacher says of the Senate declaration. Schacher’s association has about 750 members, including about 200 in Orange County.
