Prison Escapee Remains at Large
CASTAIC — A Van Nuys man serving a five-month sentence for drunk driving remained at large Sunday after escaping from the Peter Pitchess Honor Rancho a day earlier, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Max Arroyo, 27, was last seen at 3 a.m. Saturday in a minimum-security ward of the jail, but he did not show up when deputies counted the inmates at 5:50 a.m., Sheriff’s Deputy Gabe Ramirez said.
Arroyo, who is 5-foot-8 and weighs 175 pounds, was scheduled to be released Oct. 9.
He will be charged with escape when he is captured, Ramirez said.
