IRVINE — Fluor Daniel Inc. said Thursday that it has won a $100-million contract to provide engineering and procurement services for retrofitting a waste-to-energy plant in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
The Irvine company, the main subsidiary of Fluor Corp., said the project includes replacing the existing system with a mass burn combustion system consisting of two new boilers, each capable of processing about 1,000 tons of municipal solid waste every day.
Fluor Constructors International, also a Fluor Corp. unit, will provide construction management services on the contract, which was awarded by American Ref-Fuel Co.
Engineering is underway at Fluor Daniel’s Houston office, and construction is expected to start in early 1995. The job, which will employ 350 workers at its peak, is scheduled to be completed in late 1996.
