A suspected child molester was arrested Wednesday night after a 1 1/2-hour car chase that started near Downtown Los Angeles and ended on a freeway near Diamond Bar, police said.
The pursuit began about 7:45 p.m., when police spotted a vehicle believed to be connected to a child molestation, said LAPD Officer Don Cox..
Cox said police first ordered the gray Mazda pickup truck to pull over near Sunset Boulevard and Parkview Street. When the driver refused, a chase ensued, as the pickup--staying well within the speed limit--led half a dozen squad cars from the northbound Glendale Freeway to the southbound Orange Freeway, traveling on the Ventura, Foothill and Golden State freeways.
About 9 p.m., the truck stopped on the southbound Orange Freeway. Surrounded by squad cars, the suspect surrendered without incident.
