County Beaches
* Re “The Beach You Save May Be Your Own,” editorial, July 2: There is no rationale for imposing higher costs on beach cities for the privilege of hosting visitors from all over the county. The overwhelming majority of rescues made by lifeguards are for inland visitors unfamiliar with the dangers of the surf. The tons of trash are left by visitors, not by residents.
With the higher property values of coastal cities, property owners and indirectly renters already pay more in taxes to provide county services.
