Teledyne Receives Order for Friend-or-Foe System
- Share via
Teledyne Electronics in Newbury Park has received a $63.8-million order from the Air Force for devices that help aircraft pilots identify targets as friend or foe.
The contract calls for the Ventura County unit of Los Angeles-based Teledyne Inc. to deliver 200 of the systems by June, 1998. The systems will be installed in F-16 jet fighters that will be delivered to the air forces of South Korea and Turkey.
A Teledyne spokesman said the order is the first production go-ahead for the AN / APX-109 Advanced Identification Friend or Foe system. He said the order should stabilize the payroll at Teledyne Electronics, but that he didn’t know whether new hirings would result.
