Even the Westside art world has soccer mania.
Forty-five galleries associated with Los Angeles Art Galleries and Santa Monica/Venice Art Dealers Assn. are sponsoring two nights of exhibitions in honor of the World Cup soccer tournament.
Usually not open to the public in the evening, some galleries will be opening new exhibitions with receptions and the artists on hand. The galleries will open their doors on Thursday jand Friday at 6 p.m.
The exhibitions, which are not directly related to soccer, vary in context from La Brea Avenue’s Iturralde Gallery exhibit “Los Angeles: Through the Eyes of Latin America” to Anthony Friedkin’s “Gay Essays” at the Stephen Cohen Gallery on Beverly Boulevard.
The galleries are within the area bounded by Santa Monica Boulevard, Western Avenue, Beverly Drive and 3rd Street.
