Routson Leads Diving Meet
MISSION VIEJO — Tyce Routson of the Mission Viejo Nadadores edged Justin Dumas of Rose Bowl to take the lead in the three-meter diving competition Saturday at the Southern California Diving Invitational at the Marguerite Swimming and Diving Complex.
Routson, 18, who set a Southern Section Division I record in this year’s finals with El Toro, took the lead in the boys’ 16- to 18-year-old division with 456.15 points to Dumas’ 447 points.
Jeff Nichols of the Nadadores is third with 427.10 points.
In the girls’ 16- to 18-year-old division, Summer Brown of the Nadadores, with 498.8 points, leads teammate Sandy Zubrin by four points in the three-meter competition. Amy Brown of the Nadadores is third with 391.55 points.
Although Brown maintained her lead through the second day of competition, Zubrin is expected to move into first place in overall competition when platform diving begins Monday. Brown does not compete on the platform.
Erica Sorgi of the Nadadores continued to dominate the one- and three-meter competition in the 11- to 12-year-old division, winning each with 348.65 points. The Nadadores’ Kristen Marquis was second with 251.15 points. Both girls will compete today on the platform.
