Driver Dies in Freeway Accident

CHATSWORTH — An unidentified man was killed Saturday afternoon when his car went over the side of the road on the eastbound side of the Simi Valley Freeway, just east of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, authorities said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics who responded to the crash, said California Highway Patrol Officer Shirley Gaines.
The car, a Ford Thunderbird, rolled about 55 feet down a grassy embankment, Gaines said. The cause of the accident, which occurred at 4:06 p.m, is under investigation.
