Westminster Carport Fire Destroys 2 Cars
WESTMINSTER — An early morning fire gutted a carport Saturday at an apartment building near Golden West Street and Westminster Boulevard, destroying two cars and slightly injuring a firefighter who was battling the blaze.
The vehicle fire, reported at 2:10 a.m., started in a carport at an apartment complex at 14267 Village Way. Firefighters had it under control within 10 minutes, Campbell said. The blaze caused about $30,000 in damage to the structure and the cars.
Firefighter Bill Nelson slipped while trying to put out the fire and bruised his leg, Westminster Fire Capt. Craig Campbell said. Nelson did not need medical treatment.
