No Cuts Planned for Santa Ana Schools
SANTA ANA — The Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Education has approved its 1994-95 budget, a $214-million spending plan that calls for no significant changes in staffing levels or programs.
At its regular meeting this week, the board unanimously approved the budget without comment.
The plan includes a 1% pay increase for all employees and assumes no increased state funding to offset inflation.
District spokeswoman Diane Thomas said the plan avoids painful and controversial cuts in staff and programs that were necessary in past years.
“The continuing lack of increase from the state in education funding has put a strain on school districts across the state, but we’re grateful that this year we don’t need to make reductions to stay within our budget,” she said.
