NYELAND ACRES : Clues Sought in Woman’s Slaying
- Share via
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies were searching for clues Friday in the slaying of a woman whose slightly decomposed body was found in the living room of her Nyeland Acres home Thursday night.
The body of Lorenda Valverde, 35, was discovered by her landlord about 10:15 p.m., said Sheriff’s Lt. Craig Husband. She had apparently been strangled to death with a cord, said Deputy Coroner Jim Wingate.
The landlord, Raymond Amaro, lives on the property in the 3500 block of Almond Drive. Amaro had not seen Valverde for days and decided to enter her apartment, finding her body, Husband said.
Valverde’s death was not related to a burglary, Husband said.
Sheriff’s deputies would not say how long she had been dead.
Neighbors on Friday described Valverde as a quiet woman who was sometimes seen playing with her kittens outside her home.
