Three County Golfers Advance to U.S. Junior Amateur Championship

Three Orange County golfers earned berths in the U.S. Junior Amateur at regional qualifying Monday in Bakersfield.
Jin Park and Terry Noe of Fullerton and Jimmy Lee of Irvine advanced to the championship July 26-30 at Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, N.J. The top six golfers in the field of 113 advanced.
Park shot 70-71 for a one-under 141 at Stockdale Country Club to finish second behind Northridge’s Darren Angel, who shot a 67-70.
Lee shot 71-72 and Noe had 71-73.

Jason Hodges, a designated hitter on Cypress College’s State champion baseball team, has signed a letter of intent to play for Long Beach State.
Hodges, a first-team All-Orange Empire Conference selection, hit a school-record 14 home runs, drove in a team-high 53 runs and batted .347 for Cypress, which also won the conference title. Hodges is a graduate of Esperanza High.
