BURBANK : Hearing Set for Dogs’ Owners in Mauling
- Share via
A pretrial hearing for a Burbank couple charged with various violations of the city animal code stemming from their dogs’ attack on a woman as she was taking an afternoon stroll is set for July 21 in Burbank Municipal Court.
The couple, Edward Ecock and Andrea Valente, pleaded not guilty Thursday to misdemeanor charges of violating the city’s leash law, harboring a dangerous animal and operating a kennel without a license.
Two mixed-breed pit bulls owned by the couple mauled Donna J. Smith, an employee of the Walt Disney Co., as she walked near the intersection of Parish Place and Chandler Boulevard on May 12. Smith required about 80 stitches on her face. At the time of the attack, the dogs were being watched by Valente’s 8-year-old son.
The couple’s dogs, Cheyane and Dutch, are being held at the Burbank Animal Shelter until a judge rules on their fate.
