PORT HUENEME : Power Failure Affects Traffic
An underground cable failure knocked out electrical power for about an hour and a half in portions of Port Hueneme Friday evening, shutting down stoplights at two major intersections during peak-hour traffic, authorities said.
Power went out at about 5 p.m., causing traffic to back up at Channel Islands Boulevard and Victoria Avenue.
The power failure also caused traffic delays of about two blocks at Pleasant Valley and Ventura roads, Port Hueneme police said.
No accidents were reported at either intersection.
Officials with Southern California Edison said about 3,500 customers were without power.
