Margie Cary, assistant principal at Hewes Middle School, will be the new principal at Marjorie Veeh Elementary School starting July 1. She will replace Gerry Aust, who will become principal of C.E. Utt Middle School.
Cary has spent her entire teaching career in the Tustin Unified School District, starting as a substitute teacher in 1969. She has taught at Arroyo, Helen Estock, Jean Thorman and Red Hill elementary schools.
She also has been a teacher on special assignments, handling curriculum projects for grades five through eight, and has taught students with limited English skills.
Cary became an assistant principal at Hewes in 1992. She helped the school gain recognition last year as a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Chapman University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Cal State Fullerton.
