TORRANCE : New Park Named for 2 Development Foes
Torrance officials dedicated a new park recently to a Torrance couple who were credited with sparing the area from high-rise development before their deaths in 1988.
The park, at 220 Via Riviera in the Hollywood Riviera section of the city, was named Mantovani Park in honor of Robert and Juanita Mantovani, who were killed in a car accident.
“Juanita and Bob were always concerned with preserving natural beauty,” said Marie Watson, Juanita Mantovani’s 81-year-old mother. “It’s wonderful that they are remembered in this beautiful park.”
