OJAI VALLEY : Commerce’s Barram to Discuss Radar Tower
- Share via
Deputy Secretary of Commerce David Barram will meet with Ojai Valley residents at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Matilija Junior High School to discuss the National Weather Service’s radar tower on Sulphur Mountain.
Opponents of the weather tracking system want the federal government to move the tower. Some residents fear the radar could pose health risks, although a federal judge has ruled that adequate safety studies have been conducted.
Barram will meet with Ojai and Ventura County officials before Monday night’s meeting. He is also expected to visit the 98-foot-tall tower at some point during the day, a spokeswoman said.
