Event: 800 Meters

School/Year: Edison, Sr.

Fourth at the State meet, the UCLA-bound soccer player ran a 2:12.99. Won the county and Sunset League titles and the section Division I race as well.

Name: COURTNEY PUGMIRE

Event: 1,600 Meters

School/Year: Esperanza, Jr.

County 1,500 champion, she won the Empire League and section Division II titles. Capped season with a fourth-place finish at State. Best of 4:59.59.

Name: CARRIE GARRITSON

Event: 3,200 Meters

School/Year: Buena Park, Sr.

One of the nation’s finest, Garritson won the county 3,000 title. Won Freeway League, section Division II and Masters’ titles with ease. Best of 10:39.33.

Name: KATIE MOOK

Event: 100 Hurdles

School/Year: Foothill, Jr.

A fall at Masters Meet ended her season early, but she posted the county’s three fastest times this spring. Her best was 14.82. Won county and Century League titles.

Name: MARLENE LANG

Event: 300 Intermediate Hurdles

School/Year: Fountain Valley, Sr.

Sunset League champion advanced to the Masters Meet, finishing seventh. Posted a best time of 44.9. Versatile athlete won the county title as well.

Name: KRISTY KIERULFF

Event: High Jump

School/Year: Esperanza, Jr.

State champion for the second time (she won as a freshman), she jumped 5-10 or better on five occasions. Cleared 5-10 3/4 to win the Empire League title.

Name: KERRY O’BRIC

Event: Triple Jump

School/Year: Edison, So.

Eighth at State meet, she jumped best toward end of season. Managed personal bests at section Division I finals and Masters Meet. Her top jump: 37-8 3/4.

Name: TARA OETTINGER

Event: 100, 200 and 400 Meters, Long Jump

School/Year: Foothill, Jr.

The Orange County and Century League champion in four events, she also won the State long jump title with a best of 19 feet 7 1/2 inches. Recorded bests of 12.37 seconds for 100 meters, 25.17 on three consecutive weekends for 200 meters and 57.72 at the county championships for 400 meters.

Event: Shotput, Discus

School/Year: Newport Harbor, Sr.

Finished third in both events at the State meet. Her best was 45-7 in the shot and a 146-1 on her last discus effort at State.
