Derek Leckenby; Herman’s Hermits Guitarist

Derek Leckenby, 51, guitarist with the popular 1960s rock group Herman’s Hermits. The group sold more than 50 million records, including such hits as “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter” and “I’m Henry the VII, I Am.” The Hermits considered themselves third in popularity after the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Despite his illness, Leckenby had continued to tour with the group until recently. On June 4 in Manchester, England, of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
