THOUSAND OAKS : Man Shoots Former Girlfriend; Kills Self
A Thousand Oaks woman was recovering in a hospital Friday after being shot twice by an ex-boyfriend, who then pointed the gun at his head and killed himself, Ventura sheriff’s officials said.
Cecile Schwedes, 43, was shot by Calabasas tile-setter Wili Semmler Thursday night, said Lt. Paul Husband, who is heading the investigation for the Sheriff’s Department. The bullets did not hit any vital organs, and Schwedes was in stable condition Friday at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, a nursing supervisor said.
Semmler, 46, fired two shots into Schwedes’ neck and back from a 9-millimeter semiautomatic handgun seconds after she ordered him to leave her home on Teasdale Street, Husband said. Schwedes had turned around and was headed back into her home when Semmler shot her about 10:45 p.m., Husband said.
He then committed suicide with a single gunshot to the head, Husband said.
