It’s Broadway’s turn to take center stage in TV’s never-ending parade of award shows. Anthony Hopkins and Amy Irving play host Sunday night to the 48th annual Tony Awards, saluting the year’s top plays and performers in New York. The event unfolds at 9 p.m. on CBS (Channels 2 and 8).
Alan Alda, Carol Burnett, Faye Dunaway, Melanie Griffith, Steve Martin, Bernadette Peters, Martin Short and Paul Sorvino are among the scheduled presenters. And Glenn Close will present a Tony from Los Angeles’ Shubert Theater, where she has been starring in the Broadway-bound “Sunset Boulevard.”
