John Bolger has been named the girls’ soccer coach at Capistrano Valley, Athletic Director Tom White said Tuesday. Bolger is returning to the position he vacated after a one-year stint two years ago.
Bolger, who had moved out of state, has coached club soccer eight years and will coach the Mission Viejo Rangers club team this summer.

Two softball standouts for Troy High, pitcher Heidi Schmidt and catcher Stephanie Bloomingdale, have decided to play next season for Cypress College, the school announced.
Schmidt had a 0.69 earned-run average this season.
