A pair of gunmen briefly held 15 people hostage Monday during a robbery at a Los Angeles restaurant, police said.
The holdup of Acapulco restaurant near Silver Lake occurred at 1 a.m., when two men stormed in and demanded the day’s receipts, Sgt. J. J. Cerniglia said.
Police surrounded the restaurant, trapping the robbers inside, Cerniglia said.
When officers broke through the locked front door, one suspect tried to pass himself off as a customer but was arrested, police said. The other suspect fled.
A shot was fired by one of the gunmen during the holdup, but no one was injured, Cerniglia said.
