Rain Threatens to Douse Beach Party Weekend
The fog that hung over the Ventura coast Wednesday is expected to return today and last through the weekend, when rain is forecast.
The storm system from the Gulf of Alaska threatens to douse the California Beach Party, the annual festival set on Ventura’s beachfront promenade.
“These storms are tricky, but right now it’s not looking too promising” for the festival, said Bruce Thoren, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., a private forecasting company.
Thoren predicted that showers would start Saturday afternoon and continue periodically Sunday. However, Clay Morgan from the National Weather Service in Oxnard said the storm appears to be slowing, so the rain may not arrive until late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
