* Gail Sheehy notes (“A Heroine in a Whole New Light,” Commentary, April 11) that George Eliot was admired by Dickens, Trollope and Congreve. Eliot lived from 1819-1880; John Congreve lived from 1670-1729. Was his a voice from the dead?

* Dickens had a good reason for not visiting Eliot in 1878 after her husband died. Dickens died in 1870.
