Region : Extended Post Office Hours for Tax-Filers
Expecting the annual onslaught of last-minute tax filers, several area post offices will remain open until midnight Friday.
In addition to the extended hours, most locations will have postal workers stationed curbside starting mid-afternoon to collect stamped returns, said David Mazer, a postal service spokesman.
Four area post offices will have extended hours:
* Marina del Rey, Processing and Distribution Center, 13031 Jefferson Blvd. No window service, but stamps available until midnight.
* Long Beach, Main Post Office, 300 Long Beach Blvd. No window service after 5 p.m., but special tax collections until midnight.
* Long Beach, Processing and Distribution Center, 2300 Redondo Ave. No window service after 5 p.m., but special tax collections until midnight.
* Los Angeles, Airport Area, Worldway Air Mail Center, 5800 W. Century Blvd. Window and collection service 24 hours; IRS representatives on site.
