2 Men Killed in Head-On Collision
SANTA CLARITA — Two men were killed on Sierra Highway shortly before rush hour when their vehicles collided head-on north of Mint Canyon Road.
Carlos Horton of Acton and Leros Hull of Valencia, both 51, died shortly after the 4:44 p.m. accident Wednesday.
Horton’s pickup truck was traveling north on Sierra Highway and pulled into the southbound lane, hitting Hull’s car, California Highway Patrol Officer Wendy Moore said.
Each vehicle was traveling 50 to 60 m.p.h. when the collision occurred. Both men were wearing seat belts, and the car’s air bag deployed in the collision, Moore said.
Rebecca Mercer, 26, of Lancaster was driving behind Hull and received minor injuries when her station wagon slid into the side of Hull’s car.
