Police Chiefs Back Wilson’s Reelection

Citing a shared philosophy of more police and tougher anti-crime laws, the Los Angeles Police Chiefs Assn. on Wednesday endorsed Gov. Pete Wilson’s reelection bid.
“When Pete Wilson says that every Californian has a fundamental right not to become a crime victim and not to live in fear--these are the words of a fighter, not a liberal politician with no record on crime,” said Hawthorne Police Chief Stephen Port, president of the group that represents more than 40 police chiefs in Los Angeles County.
The endorsement followed a meeting between Wilson and several police chiefs.
