Ingram Micro Creates New Unit: Ingram Micro Inc. of Santa Ana, a worldwide computer distributor, said Friday that it has created a division to focus on opportunities related to the technological convergence of popular media. The company said its Strategic Product Group for Digital Communications will focus on distributing products that link the video, computer, communications and telecommunications industries. Chip Lacy, chairman of the company, added that the new group is a first in a series of steps to address the digital communications market. “It is one of the ways the company will keep its readiness to pursue new business opportunities sharp,” he said.
