Franchisee Wins Riot Judgment: Jurors awarded more than $7 million to the owner of a Domino’s pizza franchise that was burned during the riots, deciding that an insurer and insurance agency had breached an oral contract to repay his loss. Insurance Co. of North America and the Gold Cities Insurance Agency were ordered to pay the money to Dennis Stephan, whose pizza business in a county area between Los Angeles and Compton was burned on April 30, 1992. The judgments came this week in a trial overseen by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ray Bennett.
