BOYS’ SOCCER ROUNDUP : Esperanza Beats Millikan in Overtime

Esperanza’s Sean Anderson scored the game-winning goal six minutes into overtime to give the Aztecs a 2-1 victory over Long Beach Millikan in a Southern Section Division II boys’ soccer game Thursday at Esperanza.
Mark Alleman got his 20th assist of the season on the winning goal. Dave Clemmins scored on a penalty kick with 15 minutes remaining in regulation to tie the score, 1-1, for Esperanza (17-5-5), which will play the winner of today’s Capistrano Valley-Santa Barbara game.
Elmer Orellana scored in the first half for Long Beach Millikan.
In another Division II game:
Long Beach Wilson 4, Cypress 0--The loss ended the season for Cypress (15-9-3), the second-place team from the Empire League. Long Beach Wilson (21-2-3) plays the winner of today’s Diamond Bar-Mater Dei showdown.
In Division IV quarterfinals:
Santa Margarita 2, Corona 0--Jeff Maguire scored Santa Margarita’s first goal on an unassisted shot from 25 yards out. Seth George scored the second, his 24th goal this season. Santa Margarita will meet No. 1-seeded Riverside Poly Tuesday.
Riverside Poly 2, Saddleback 1--Mike Grasse scored with 14 minutes left for host Saddleback, which ended the season 20-4-3. Saddleback outshot top-seeded Riverside Poly, 29-10. Riverside Poly is 25-0-1.
La Habra 3, La Canada 2 (OT)--Miguel Garcia scored the winning goal six minutes into the overtime as La Habra eliminated third-seeded La Canada (20-3). John Mendrin scored his second goal with less than two minutes remaining to tie the score.
