Step Right In to Folk Dancing
Zan Dubin’s otherwise excellent article on folk dancing (cover story, Feb. 10) could needlessly discourage new folks from joining in, for two reasons.
First, don’t stay away because you have nothing to wear. At least with international folk dancing, adequate attire is a T-shirt and slacks for most events. Don’t let the photos give you pause.
Second, your eyes are not likely to glaze over. Anyone with a reasonable measure of coordination and presence of mind will do just fine.
The only advisable optional equipment is a sense of humor.
