STANTON — Police arrested an armed Texas man Monday on suspicion of armed robbery, several burglaries and a hit-and-run accident, authorities said.
Roy David Broker, 30, and a companion, Teri Ann Bertsche, 30, of Costa Mesa, were taken into custody in the parking lot of a motel in the 11700 block of Beach Boulevard about 5:30 p.m., according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Angel Andrade said he spotted a vehicle in the parking lot that matched a broadcast description of the brown 1977 Ford Grenada thought to be involved in an armed robbery of a sandwich shop in Westminster 10 minutes earlier.
The deputy held the couple at gunpoint but without incident until backup units arrived. Deputies said Broker had a .32-caliber revolver.
Bertsche also was arrested on suspicion of robbery, and both were booked into the Orange County Jail.
Broker is considered a suspect in several other robberies and a hit-and-run accident in Westminster, and several burglaries in Newport Beach, according to Lt. Dan Martini of the Sheriff’s Department.
