Datametrics Links Losses to Earthquake

Datametrics Corp., a Chatsworth maker of computer printers and communications products, said it expects to post a net loss for its fiscal first quarter because of problems related to last month’s Northridge earthquake.
In the three months ended Jan. 31 last year, Datametrics earned a profit of $300,000 on revenue of $5.3 million.
The company said the loss it anticipates for the most recent quarter is largely due to unrealized sales because the Jan. 17 earthquake and aftershocks disrupted its manufacturing.
Datametrics said the company is now in full operation and expects to be profitable for its fiscal second quarter.
