Northridge Falls to Southern Utah

CEDAR CITY, Utah — Cal State Northridge lost to Southern Utah, 81-71, Saturday night in a nonconference basketball game.
The Matadors (5-16) led, 39-31, at halftime and were within 62-60 late in the game, but Southern Utah’s Andy Ward made nine of 10 free throws during the final four minutes to put the game away. Ward finished with 18 points for the Thunderbirds (13-9).
Northridge was led by Brent Lofton’s season-high 19 points. Peter Micelli added 15.
Southern Utah outrebounded the Matadors, 36-24.
Reggie Ingram contributed 16 points and Keith Berard had 15 for Southern Utah, which improved to 11-1 on its home court.
